During 2025, BCARE carried out the AMODAC (Advanced MODule based on solid state batteries) project, a collaborative R&D initiative co-funded by the Basque Government and the European Union under the HAZITEK programme (file ZL-2025/00670).
The AMODAC project is a collaborative initiative involving BCARE (project leader) and BASQUEVOLT, who, together with the CIC ENERGIGUNE Research Centre, a member of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, jointly investigate a new energy storage solution based on solid-state batteries.
AMODAC aims to research new energy storage technologies for stationary applications in data centers, with a strong focus on improving the performance of current solutions in terms of energy density, safety, and thermal stability. The project has enabled BCARE to expand its knowledge of solid-state battery energy storage technologies and to enhance its portfolio of management and control systems for this type of energy storage.
As a result of the outcomes achieved, BCARE strengthens its positioning in the field of critical infrastructures and distributed energy storage, generating knowledge in the modelling and monitoring of solid-state cell degradation and further reinforcing its innovation capabilities in advanced energy storage solutions.
