Redesign of the architecture of the direct current system in an electrical substation and development of a monitoring and diagnostic system for lead batteries.

Client category

Distribution System Operator (DSO)

Purpose

Redesign of the architecture of the direct current system in an electrical substation and development of a monitoring and diagnostic system for lead batteries.

Key actions

During the development of this project, Bcare carried out, together with its client, a complete redesign of the DC distribution system of its electrical substations, which encompassed numerous tasks such as:

Evaluation of critical operational parameters specific to the application.

Selection of new alternative electrochemical technologies to NiCd.

Selection of manufacturers and cells.

Electrochemical characterization and aging processes of different cells.

Homologation of cells and manufacturers with better performance.

Development of advanced sensors at cell level (VTZ) and Battery Diagnostic Module (HW/SW).
Development of intelligent diagnostic algorithms and models for SOC, SOH and RMU estimation.

Development of remote monitoring system.

Redesign of DC switchboards and SMART battery-charger equipment.
